Oh Jung Hee Writer, Korea
Oh Jung Hee was born in Seoul in 1947. She attended Sorabol Art College where she received her B.A. in creative writing. She made her literary debut in 1968 by winning the JungAng Ilbo New Writer’s Award for her short story “The Toy Store Lady.” She is known for her delicate explorations of hidden human desires through her portrayal of characters who resolve real-life problems in their interactions with others. Her works include River of Fire, Childhood Garden, Spirit of the Wind, Fireworks, and Bird. Her short story “Evening Game” (1979) was made into the movie Today and the Other Days in 2009. She is the recipient of the Yi Sang Literary Award, Dong-in Literary Award, Dong-seo Literary Award, and LiBeratur Award. She is a member of the National Academy of Arts.
