[One on One] (Hyperreal) Meets the Eye
We have realized that sometimes, the stories seemingly faraway are in fact the stories that most vividly reflect the realities around us. People dispatched to the ground to find hope on a polluted planet, a world where everything is eventually swept out to sea, or other versions of ‘me’ that exist somewhere out there in the multiverse. Kim Choyeop and Sarah Pinsker expand upon the deepest truths of our reality through these sorts of seemingly unfamiliar and surrealist stories. This conversation will examine how their imaginations capture the world of ‘the here and now’ exploring what the future might hold and it is connected to emotion, memory, solidarity, and ethics. Future-oriented science and technology will stem from someone’s present-day life and feelings. Science fiction is not simply fiction. It is yet another face of the reality we have turned away from, a mirror that reflects a hidden truth.
