Born in Busan Yeongdo, South Korea, she commenced her career as a rookie at Poetry & Poetics in 1995. She holds a degree in Korean Language and Literature from Kyunghee University. Over the course of more than a decade, she resided in the Sahara Desert of Western Africa and the Spanish Canary Islands. During this period, she nurtured a passion for travel and photography. Her literary contributions include poetry collections such as Red Sahara, The Decline Scripture, and Rootist, as well as approximately a dozen essay collections, including A Critical Biography of José Martí. She received the Busan Writers Award, the Choi Gyerak Literary Award, and the Song Su-gwon Poetry Award.
