Jeong You Jeong was born in 1966 in Hampyeong, Jeollanam-do. She gained instant renown in 2007 winning the 1st Segye Young Adult Literature Award for her novel Spring Training of My Life. In 2009 she won the 5th Segye Literature Award for the novel Shoot Me in the Heart, praised by the jury as a well plotted, ingeniously conceived story told with great humor and a surprise ending. Her novels A Night of Seven Years and 28 were both named ‘Book of the Year’ by numerous media outlets and bookstores. Translations of her work have been received to acclaim in France, Germany, China, Taiwan, and Vietnam. Her latest work is the novel Beautiful Daemon, published in 2016.
