Jinji was born in 1979 in a small ethnic Korean village in Jilin Province, China. She graduated from Yanbian Jilin Teacher’s College and held various jobs in China and Korea before settling in Changchun in 2006 to write novels. She made her debut in 2007 winning the Yun Tong-Ju New Writer’s Award awarded by the magazine Yanbian Literature. She is the author of a collection of short stories, Schrödinger's Box, published in China. I Don’t Have a Home to Call My Own is her first short story collection published in Korea. She lives in Changchun and publishes work in Korea and China.
