Yumi Fuzuki Poet Japan
Yumi Fuzuki is a poet who was born in Hokkaido, Japan, in 1991. She began writing poetry at the age of ten and won the Gendai Shi Techō Prize at the age of sixteen. Her first collection, In This Suitable World, This Inevitably Suitable Me, was awarded the Nakahara Chūya Prize and the Maruyama Yutaka Memorial Modern Poetry Prize, making her the youngest-ever winner at the age of eighteen. Her fourth collection, Something Like a Parallel World, won the Tomita Saika Award. She is also the author of the poetry collections Deeper Than the Roof and Our Cat, the latter of which centers around the theme of romance, as well as the essay collections A Timid Poet Out on the Town and Baptism Diary. Her newest collection of poetry, A Grown-Up’s Day Off, was published in February 2025 and became quite popular among young Japanese readers. The first Korean edition of her poetry collection will be published by Spring Days Book, translated by Jung Suyoun. Since 2023, Fuzuki has been a visiting associate professor at Musashino University.
